Xtreme Hike for the Cure

September 9, 2013
Category: Philanthropy

I am participating in the Xtreme Hike for a Cure.  This is a 30.1 mile hike on the historic Art Loeb Trail here in NC.  It is called Xtreme because we are going to do this hike in ONE DAY!  This benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation here in Charlotte.  This event started in North Carolina and began as a once a year event.  It has grown into biannual event and has spread across the nation.  I am logging my training on my donation page at: http://www.cff.org/LWC/ChrisMcKinney

Contact me directly at citizensirhc@gmail.com if you need information for your company's matching donations program or if you would like to learn about partnering with the CF Foundation of Charlotte.

Thank you in advance checking out my progress.  Please consider helping me reach my fundraising goal.

Free Lift Tickets & Reduced Rates for March Skiing

Beech Mountain Resort in Beech Mountain, NC, has two budget-friendly initiatives for skiers and snowboarders.

1). Beginning March 4th and continuing for the remainder of the season, the resort provides one free youth lift ticket with the purchase of every adult lift ticket.

2). Also beginning March 4th, weekday pricing is in effect seven days a week for the remainder of the season.

Beech Mountain entered the month with near-record amounts of snow for early March. Meanwhile, the ski area received several inches of natural snow the first five days of March.

"This is the most snow we've had in March for years," said marketing director Talia Freeman. "It's crazy how much snow is out there."

Although Mother Nature has the final say, officials at Beech Mtn Resort have set a goal to stay open into the second half of March.

"As long as the weather cooperates and there are people on the slopes, we will stay open," Freeman said.
